They were judged simply by the professional standards and quality of reporting, regardless of their experience.<\/p>\n<p>Richard Tsang Lap-ki, chairperson of the Chinese University Journalism and Communication Alumni Association said all 9 winners did tremendous research, investigation and analysis for their work, showing that they had a very strong news sense, a determined mind and an unquenchable thirst for truth that makes them dare to voice out unfairness in the society.<\/p>\n<p>The year 2013 marks both the 10th anniversary of CUJA and the golden jubilee of CUHK. The organizing committee has organized a series of activities, including seminars and a roving exhibition.<\/p>\n<p>The 6th Chinese University Journalism Award<\/p>\n<p>Objective<br \/>\nTo promote professional practices in journalism in Hong Kong through recognizing the contributions of distinguished journalists.<\/p>\n<p>Eligibility<br \/>\nEligible contestants should be serving or former journalists who have worked in any Hong Kong-based news media organization.<\/p>\n<p>Judging Criteria<br \/>\nOutstanding journalistic performance in the following: distinguished reports, writing, commentaries, and TV\/radio programs.<\/p>\n<p>Categories<br \/>\nNews Group (Newspaper\/Magazine)<br \/>\nFeature &amp; Commentary Group (Newspaper\/Magazine)<br \/>\nNews Group (TV)<br \/>\nFeature &amp; Commentary Group (TV)<br \/>\nNews \/ Feature &amp; Commentary Group (Radio)<\/p>\n<p>Rules<br \/>\nEach contestant can only submit one piece of work to each category, but he\/she can use different pieces of work to participate in different categories.<br \/>\nContestants must participate on individual basis. Group work will only be accepted if the contestant\u2019s contribution is more than 50%. A piece of group work can be used only by one contestant to participate in one category.<\/p>\n<p>Submissions must be published in print version of newspaper or magazine or broadcast in TV or radio in the two-year period from 1 July 2011 to 30 June 2013. The Organizing Committee of the 6th Chinese University Journalism Award will consult the news media to ascertain the eligibility of a submission.<\/p>\n<p>The content of the contesting pieces of work must be based on fact.<\/p>\n<p>The power of final adjudication of the Rules rests with the Organizing Committee of the 6th Chinese University Journalism Award.<\/p>\n<p>Method of Entry<br \/>\nTelevision entries must be recorded on CD-ROM discs (DVD or VCD). Radio entries must be recorded on CD-ROM discs.<\/p>\n<p>The maximum limit for television or radio entries is one hour. The maximum limit for newspaper or magazine entries is 10,000 words\/ Chinese characters (including text, figures and tables).<\/p>\n<p>All submissions must be in either Chinese or English.<\/p>\n<p>The deadline for entries is\u00a031 July 2013 (postmark no later than 31 July 2013.) The decisions of the judges are final and irrevocable. The result will be announced in the last quarter of 2013. An Award Presentation Ceremony will be held.
