Mentorship Programme 2013 Launching Party 24.11.2012
The launching party for the fifth Mentorship Programme co-organized by the School of Journalism and Communication and the Alumni Association was held at the Clubhouse Restaurant of the Chung Chi College Staff Club, CUHK on 24 November 2012. Mentors from the industries of TV, movie, public relations and advertising joined the ceremony to share their experience with nearly 40 students.
This year’s mentorship programme has won the support of many outstanding alumni. In his speech to inaugurate the programme, Prof. Anthony FUNG, the School Director, thanked the mentors for their participation in the programme and urged mentees to seize the opportunity to learn from their mentors. Mentors attending the party also took turns to share their experience. Mr. Derek LUI, Programme Manager of the UA Cinemas, encouraged mentees to share and explore with their mentors on matters of studies, career or even relationship, although there might not be definite answers at the end. Mr. Benny CHEUNG, Director of the Public Affairs Unit (Television) of the Radio Television Hong Kong, told the participants that he would have a lot of free time after his “glorious retirement” from the RTHK at the end of 2012, having served in the public broadcaster for three dozen years. He welcomed all mentees in the programme to seek advice from him regarding documentary production. Mr. LO Ting Fai, Senior Vice President of the PCG Group, made a humorous remark regarding the usefulness of the launching party: he got to know some mentees of other mentors who happened to share the same table with him in the launching party, and later they managed to arrange meetings to continue the sharing!
