Mentorship Programme 2014 Launching Party
The launching party for the sixth Mentorship Programme co-organized by the School of Journalism and Communication and the Alumni Association was held at the Clubhouse Restaurant of the Chung Chi College Staff Club, CUHK on 22 November 2013. Mentors from the industries of broadcast news, newspaper, lifestyle magazine and public relations joined the ceremony to share their experience with about 30 students.
This year’s mentorship programme has won the support of many outstanding alumni. In his speech to kick off the programme, Prof. Anthony FUNG, the School Director, thanked the mentors for their participation in the programme and urged mentees to seize the opportunity to learn from their mentors. Mentors attending the party also took turns to share their experience. Ms Florence LAI, Chief Reporter of “U Magazine”, expressed that she was very delighted to know that many students were actually interested in cultural magazines. She said that she was more than happy to share her experiences with her mentees, and hoped mutual learning could be accomplished through meeting the young generations. Ms. CHAN Kin Kai, the editor of “Next Magazine” also said that she would be happy to share tips and knowledge about the news industry. Given the current issue of Next Media publications being banned from a TV stations’ events, Ms. CHAN said that she was even willing to bring her mentees to go to the TV station buildings and see what would happen. Ms. Charlotte KONG, Senior Manager (Public Relations) of the Independent Police Complaints Council (IPCC), felt thankful that the training from the School was very useful for her advancement in PR industry. She also welcomed all mentees in the programme to seek advice from her regarding the PR industry.
